Short day today and we got to sleep in! Which was great except it felt like I had plenty of time and then suddenly I didn't and everything was in a rush and then my bike tire was flat again. Phew. What a way to start the day! But I got some help fixing the flat and we got on our way. Since it was the Sabbath and all, I was thinking of scriptures and trying to have at least a bit of a spiritual experience. So I spouted some scriptures and ramblings to Fiona who good naturedly listened. :) The first thing I shared was D&C 59:21 although I did not remember the reference. And in nothing doth man offend God, save those who confess not his hand in all things. There's actually a bit more to it but that's the part I came up with while on the bike. I expressed thanks for my quads, the scenery, the sun, and the chance to do this amazing ride! Later on I shared "These were days never to be forgotten" which is a bit from Oliver Cowdery. It's a bit out of context but that's how I felt about today's ride. I just wanted to be able to remember the feeling of riding through these vast open spaces, watching the mountains draw closer, then fall behind. The last was Matthew 6:34. I was thinking about how Wednesday's ride will be roughly double what we did today and how tough that will be. Then I thought, just enjoy this moment. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thougth for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
Barry is up to 8 flats, Fiona is still flatless, I am at 2. There's more I could write but I think I'd better sign off and get some sleep. A few photos:
Dead snake
Action shot!
Fiona showing how tough we are.
Wide open spaces!
We are quite infatuated with I-80! Except for the little wires that cause all the flats.
Go, go, go !!!
ReplyDeleteYou're amazing. Cheering for you every day.
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love those pics on I80?? I remember when we got on in Reno I was a nervous wreck for about 15 miles and then I just said, calm down you have a lot of miles on this road and then enjoyed it. We had one spot that they had stripped to resurface for 6 miles through dessert that wasn't fun!!
ReplyDeleteHave fun! Carole
